Many times I've had people ask me how to change the words in a template, when those words were created using an alphabet set instead of just a text box. Here's how:
This demo uses Template ID#: 18800.
This adorable Board Book has a great cover, with a name using an Alphabet Set.
However, if the subject of my book is not named "Izabella", there may be a problem :) The first step to changing the title is to find what the alphabet set is.
The way to do that is by clicking on the "My Projects" tab at the bottom, and then clicking on the folder that says "Current Project".
From there, select the page that you are working on; in this case, it is the Cover. You can tell which page you are working on by looking to see what page is highlighted in the Page Manager on the right hand side.
This will bring up everything (pictures, backgrounds, letters, embellishments, text) that is on that page. Find any of the letters from the set being used (you may have to scroll down) and click on any one of them. This will bring up a window with a preview of the letter, the name of the art collection it is from, and also a button that says "Open this collection".
Clicking on the button will take you to the art collections tab, with the collection already opened.
Scroll down to the alphabets, and you'll find the matching letters, numbers, and symbols to your template!
The next step is to get rid of the letters that are already in your project. Because a template is all "locked", clicking on each letter will give you a pink border and you won't be able to move/delete the letter.
To delete it, you need to unlock it by clicking on the "lock" button in your toolbox, which will then turn the border around the element green. (or yellow, orange, or red if it was stretched too large!) From here, you can just hit the "delete" button on your keyboard, which will send the letter to the trash can.
**Shortcut: To save on time, rather than clicking/unlocking/deleting each letter one at a time, highlight ALL of the letters at the same time by holding down the shift key and highlighting them all together, unlocking them all together, and deleting them all together.
Once the old title is gone, just drag and drop the letters that you want to replace them!
And of course, you can always use the tools from the Layout tab in your Toolbox to line them up properly, especially if you have cooperative letters like these (all the same height, bottoms should line up) - see Basic Layout Tips here!
